<< DermaPet" Malacetic Wet Wipe Dry Bath (100 count)  How to get cat urine smell out of a couch? >>

Does anyone know if it is possible to get cat urine smell out of a basement? Have been looking at houses and I believe the litter box was in the basement-plus I am allergic to kitties only have owned dogs so I have no idea! Its the only place in the house that smells that way-and I dont know if it is in the walls or what because there isnt any carpeting. Any suggestions/experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Coffee!!!!! Turn up the heat in the basement and open a couple of cans of coffee. Leave them in the basement for 3 or four days and you will no longer have the urine smell. This will work with almost any smell.

You can try bleach. Or something with a strong citrius scent. But you'll probably always be able to smell it.

Good luck on this one… Cat urine is one of the hardest smells to get rid of. Time, fresh air, are just as good…but There are some products to help, but I don't know of any that are 100% Urine Off is a good one, but I know there are others (pee be gone or something like that.

I'd keep looking at houses in the mean time

Have you tried a product called "Urine Gone"? You can pick it up at Target. It's supposed to take care of stuff like that.

i rented a house once that had had some one with cats in it about ten years ago (according to my landlord). the litter box had been in the laundry room and so all my clothes started to smell like cat urine. it was awful. i tried absolutely everything from air fresheners to vinegar. in the end i found out that the best thing was to have incense burning as much as i could. keeping the door closed helped keep the smell in that one little area too. other than that i couldn't do anything. its an awful problem and just one of the many reasons i prefer dogs to cats. good luck!

DO NOT use bleach or anything w/ammonia. It will make it worse when it dries. Urine Gone is a pretty good remover. You can get it at pet stores and its pretty inexpensive. The smell is probably contained to one area because cats usually will only go in one place and as long as the smell is there they will keep doing it.

This is coming from someone who is not an indoor pet person..but here goes. Do not buy the house. the smell will never go away.If you are allergic you will be in agony.
