Author: Question by : How to convince my parents to get me a guinea pig?
I’m 13 I have 3 dogs and 3 cats. Well, they’re my brothers and moms. I personally own two fish and a kitten who I found outside after a hurricane ( It was sickly so I took it in.) I really want a guinea pig but my mom had one as a kid and refuses to buy me one because they “smell awful and no matter what have a musky urine smell.” I really love animals and I want to adopt a guinea pig from an animal shelter for small pets. I want it for Christmas but don’t know how to get her to see reason. Please help?

Your mom is probably mainly referring to their bedding. There IS a good way to avoid using their bedding and making it easier to change.
My Wife and I got some cheap Towels from Kmart to line the bottom of the guinea pig cage instead of bedding. Every 3-4 days (as we are doing laundry) we swap the dirty towel with a clean one. Guinea pig is as happy as can be and there is very little smell.
