Unfortunatly, this problem is usually not solved by odor control products. The padding, carpet need to be rempved,as well as floor below needs sealed with a specilalized sealer. If this is not possible, there is a product called epolean N that can be purchased thru wildlife control supplies.com.
Vinegar and water in a 50/50 mix put into a empty windex spray bottle, sprao on floor, padding, carpet if you can It may help, try this first
References :
Arm and Hammer baking soda and soap will work well. Scrub the carpet with this and it should work well.

If you have repetitive urine spots then I'd subjest having your carpet professionally cleaned. I'd reccomend renting a steam cleaner which is a personal prefference of mine and works like a charm.
References :
There is really nothing too great to get rid of urine smell in carpet. The best thing you can do is buy a carpet enzyme type cleaner . I think "Capture " is one name. The enzyme breaks down the urine so the smell is less. Nothing really gets rid of odor in wall to wall. I think hard wood floors are the way to go.
My husband sells carpet vacuums and used to work for a carpet guy so they had to deal with this one a lot. Bad if smell gets into the carpet pad too.
If smell is only in carpet. you could put a carpet remnant just in the closet area as a last resort and get rid of the smelly carpet. The smell makes the animal go there again too.
References :
Odaban is a great general cleaning product it disinfects and deodorizes too. I use this in my own home especially when my dog was a puppy.

http://odoban.com/index.html The only place around my area that carries odaban is Sam's Club. Some Wal-Marts carry odaban
References :
clean houses & janitorial work

Vinager(sp?) will help. I made a spray with part vinager and part water and drowned a part of my carpet the cats had totally destroyed by always peeing on it. The smell is somewhat better, it definately worked better than anything else did, including shampooing.
