Then I soak it thoroughly with an Oxyclean/water mix & scrub it lightly. You need to buy a cleaning product that contains enzymes to get rid of these fatty deposits. These are available at vets and pet stores. A home remedy that also works is to mix 10% biological (enzymatic) washing powder with 90% warm water to clean the area. Then rinse thoroughly with cold water and wipe dry. Next, using a plant mister lightly spray the area with a low grade alcohol or surgical spirit. Use a nail brush to ensure you get right into the fibres of the fabric, this will remove any traces of fatty deposits that the washing solution may have missed. Allow the area to dry thoroughly or you can use a hair-drier to speed things up. I'd recommend testing this on a small area first to ensure it doesn't remove the colour from the carpet or fabric of the affected area.
