<< How do you remove cat urine stains from a WOODEN FLOOR??  What can I use to get the smell of cat urine out of carpet? >>

We recently bought a house and we had to tear up all of the carpets in the house because there was cat feces and urine everywhere. I was just wondering what kinds of viruses/infections/diseases you could get from even breathing in the air/ tearing and moving the carpet..etc….

The only thing that I know of is toxoplasmosis. It is only harmful to pregnant women.

Toxoplasmosis is the first thing that comes to mind. This is mainly a concern for pregnant women and those who are immuno-compromised.

You can get ringworm from either by direct contact with the cat or by the spores shed from an infected animal.
There is campylobacter enteritis, a disease of the small intestine, can be caused by contact with contaminated cat feces.
And there are salmonella organisms, which are shed in discharges from the mouth, eyes, and in the feces, which can cause intestinal disease in humans.

Other parasites which can be acquired by humans are hookworms, roundworms, and tapeworms: usually by direct or indirect contact with contaminated feces, or ingestion of contaminated fleas.
