I have used a steam cleaner to clean up pet urine but it just makes it worse sometimes. However - recently I discovered a new product I will never go without from here out ... I got it from http://www.allnaturalproducts.com. This solution is 100% all natural and works! I even spray it in the litter box and it contains the stench better than any other product out there.
References :
as far as i know,NOTHING will totally take the odor of cat urine away.even the professional carpet cleaning companies told me that.we had a problem when a neighborhood cat ran in our house and urinated.the carpet companies said that it was nearly impossible to get the odor out and they were right.the best thing to do is after the cat has done this.blot with a towel, then sprinkle powder, like baby powder or something like that over the area.it will absorb the moisture.there is also something you can get at maybe walmart or a pet store that looks like a bag of small rocks that takes the odor away,it works real well.good luck!
References :
personal experience

Ask them about it and see if they can guarantee it to help before you pay them to come out.
References :
I use a product called Natures Miracle. It removes the smell but sometimes it brings up the dirt from under the carpet. So if that does happen, then i call somewhere like stanley steemer and that would definately take care of the dirt problem. You can buy it at like pet smart or petco.

But, I've heard just a carpet cleaner doesn't always get the smell out.
